An innocent bystander was shot in the shoulder in a Manhattan park Monday after he witnessed a fatal gundown — but that didn’t stop him from still helping to chase down the suspect.

The gunfire erupted in Highbridge Park at about 1 p.m., leaving a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head at West 165th Street and Edgecomb Avenue, police sources said. He was declared dead on the scene, police said.

A 31-year-old man who was nearby and not the intended target also was shot once in the shoulder. But as the gunman fled over the Washington Bridge foot bridge, the wounded guy ran after him and soon alerted a patrol cop from the 44 Precinct.

The cop caught the shooter and confiscated his firearm, police said. The gunman, who was in his 30s, was in custody.

The wounded man was taken to Lincoln Hospital.

The names of the victims and suspect weren’t immediately released.
