Bill Murray may be a lefty, but he loves his country. This is most refreshing during a time when NFL and NBA owners, coaches and players routinely disrespect our flag and anthem.

Before the start of the Ryder Cup on Sunday, one fan got team USA into the spirit by starting a patriotic chant.

But it wasn’t just any fan – it was Bill Murray who began the ‘America!’ chant.

Hiding his identity beneath a red, white and blue camouflage hat and sunglasses, Murray has been in the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota all week to support Team USA.

He’s also making sure the crowd gets hyped up for the Stars and Stripes.

In videos of the incredible moment, Murray looks around to the group around him and says, ‘OK, on the count of three?’ The people around him agree, and Murray counts down, cups his hands around his mouth and shouts: ‘America!’

Off in the distance, on the other side of the stands a faint cry of ‘America’ can be heard answering Murray’s. It sounds as though a different chat has started, perhaps from a different country competing in the Ryder Cup.

Then Murray shouts again, with a man alongside him pointing at the other side of the stands in encouragement as the cry gets louder.
