Presidential Hillary Clinton will delay her trip to Charlotte after a plea on national television from the city’s mayor Jennifer Roberts on CNN.

Roberts said during an interview on CNN Friday night that she would prefer presidential candidate Hillary Clinton delay a trip to Charlotte this weekend that she announced Friday afternoon.

Roberts said she hopes Clinton will delay the trip in an effort to not stress security resources.[…]

Friday night, Clinton’s camp responded – saying that she would delay for more than a week.

“Hillary is grateful for, and intends to honor, the invitation from faith leaders to visit with the Charlotte community. After further discussion with community leaders, we have decided to postpone Sunday’s trip as to not impact the City’s resources,” said Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri.

Clinton will visit Charlotte next Sunday, October 2, “provided circumstances allow.”
