Here’s the video just released.

This video, taken by Keith Scott’s wife, actually puts paid to the daughter’s claim that the police were ‘undercover’ and therefore couldn’t be identified as cops. That seemed an odd thing to push, unless the point was to give Scott cover for responding with a gun.

You can clearly hear the uniformed and vested cops yell more than once “Drop the gun!”. You can even hear the wife say to her husband, “Get out of the car” (meaning comply with officers) and “Don’t you do it!”, presumably don’t pull the gun on the cops. And just after she says that, you hear the cops firing.

You can see the gun clearly after the shooting at 1:47. Prior to that, it appears obscured by the shadow of the officer in red. There is no book to be seen.

Mark Becker of WSOC is reporting from police sources that Scott’s DNA, fingerprints and blood were found on the gun.

Finally, just a legal point. If they knew the wife was a witness, they should not have shown her the police video because it could potentially influence her testimony.
