Trains have been stopped in either direction for about an hour and a half. Service has been suspended because of problem in Elizabeth.

Reports are that might be possible pipe bomb, but not confirmed yet. Hazmat is on scene, people have been evacuated and robot is investigating the device.

Authorities discovered three pipe bombs and two smaller devices at a train station in Elizabeth, the law enforcement source said, shuttering train service along the Northeast Corridor from Newark Airport due to the police investigation.

NBC now reporting the 5 men who were stopped at the Verrazano Bridge and questioned by FBI are from Elizabeth, N.J.

It was not a controlled explosion, it went off as the robot was investigating it. No injuries reported.
I guess it’s clear it’s a ‘live bomb’.
