A Texas woman, who was sexually abused as a child, brought her molester to justice 13 years later – as a police officer.
The victim was molested by family member Erlis Chaisson from the age of eight, over the course of a four-year period during the mid-90s.
In September 2014, the anonymous victim contacted Chaisson and said she was going to counselling and wanted to talk about the abuse with him, reported the Waco Tribune.
The abuser agreed to the meeting however he didn’t know his victim had become a police officer and was recording the whole conversation through a voice recorder that was concealed in her bra. During the 90-minute talk Chaisson confessed to molesting the women six times when she was a child.
Upon being asked by the victim if he regretted the abuse Chaisson showed little remorse for his actions.
‘I mean, I understand you’re – you’re putting, trying to put all the blame on me,’ Chaisson said. ‘Lines got crossed. Our emotions got mixed and misread. Didn’t mean for none of it to – to go as far as it did. ‘The d*** has no conscience, and there’s no explanation for it,’ he said to the police officer. ‘If you had a penis, you would know.’
A week before the meeting, the victim went to McLennan County Sheriff’s Detective Brad Bond where she told him the extent of the abuse she suffered and that she would be pursuing a case against Chaisson.
The graphic descriptions of the abuse she told Bond would make it into a police report, then an arrest warrant, and finally a courtroom, according to the Daily Beast who met the policewoman.
Chaisson, who had already been convicted of molesting another 8-year-old girl a few years previous, was sentenced to life in prison, in addition to two seven-year sentences in a trial last month, reported the Waco Tribune-Herald.
