Funeral dog

I’m still mourning the loss of a good friend and neighbor who passed away last month. I wonder how long the dog will mourn for his best friend.

These are the heartbreaking scenes as a blonde cocker spaniel refuses to leave the side of its owner’s coffin during a mass funeral for the victims killed in this week’s devastating Italian earthquake.
The dog was photographed in a gym beside its owner’s coffin, who is believed to be from the village of Accumoli, one of the worst hit areas affected by the earthquake.
Weeping relatives hugged each other and reached out to touch the wooden coffins at a state funeral on Saturday for some of the 291 people killed in the tragedy this week.

Amongst the 35 coffins laid out in a sports hall were small caskets holding the bodies of an 18-month-old baby and a nine-year-old girl, two of the 21 children who are known to have died when the quake hit central Italy early on Wednesday.
Bishop Giovanni D’Ercole said: ‘Don’t be afraid to bewail your suffering, we have seen so much suffering. But I ask you not to lose your courage.
