Hillary Clinton will receive her first classified intelligence briefing as the Democratic presidential nominee on Saturday, according to multiple reports.

The meeting is scheduled to take place near Clinton’s New York home.

The classified briefings, given to each major party’s nominee, are a routine practice to ensure potential new presidents are up to speed on current events. Republican nominee Donald Trump received his first briefing last week.
The tradition of briefing candidates is usually uncontroversial, but it has drawn widespread attention this year after both parties called for the other’s nominee to be denied access to classified information.

Many Republicans — led by Speaker Paul Ryan (Wis.) — have argued Clinton should be denied access to classified intelligence, saying that her use of a private email server when she was secretary of State “disqualifies” her.
