The Hillary Clinton campaign is launching a new program that will organize so-called DREAmers, undocumented children brought to the U.S. by their parents, to register voters.
The campaign will launch “Mi Sueño, Tu Voto,” which translates to “My Dream, Your Vote,” Monday, on the fourth anniversary the enrollment date of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Under President Obama, DACA temporarily protected some young immigrants from deportation and allowed them to work legally.
“DREAMers have played a pivotal role in our campaign, advocating for families who constantly live in fear of deportation — so we’ve created a program that aims to turn these stories into action,” said Lorella Praeli, Clinton’s national director of the Latino Vote in a statement.
“We founded this program on the premise that, one by one — through friends, families, co-workers or classmates — DREAMers’ futures would be considered on Election day,” Praeli said.
Hillary for America will hold events in Florida, Nevada and North Carolina this week to unveil the program.
