This is Annemie Van Vleuten of the Netherlands.

She was leading in the women’s road race, on her way to the gold, going about 50 mph, when she had a horrible crash. Warning, it is rough to watch.

Fortunately she is still alive, but is in intensive care with a concussion and three small fractures of the vertebrae of the spine.
