Police are searching for an armed ‘person of interest’ in connection to the fatal shooting in Texas where one was killed and four were seriously injured.

Austin Police Department identified the man as Endicott McCray, a 24-year-old with long corn rows and a goatee.

At 3am this morning, they sent out an emergency alert via their app warning of an active shooter in the downtown area. Identities of the victims have yet to be released.

Three of them were taken for treatment at University Medical Center Brackenridge, CNN reported. Their conditions are not known.

Two separate shootings took place outside bars and clubs on East 6th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard but police said they were not related.

Authorities warned people to stay indoors in the downtown area after the shooting shortly before 2am local time.

At a press conference this morning, Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo offered his condolences to the victims of the tragedy.

He deplored what he described as a ‘senseless act of violence’ and wished the four people wounded in the attack a speedy recover, The Statesman reported.
