Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump now has a seven point lead over Hillary Clinton nationally, according to a USC Dornsife/LA Times Presidential Election Daybreak poll released Wednesday.
The poll, which is updated daily, showed Trump leading Clinton 47 percent to 40 percent. The lead is outside the poll’s margin of error of 3 percentage points in either direction, indicating that the jump is not just the result of chance.
The seven point lead comes in the aftermath of the GOP Convention, at the beginning of which Trump enjoyed only a one point lead. The two were tied in the poll for much of the week, but after the Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicked off on Monday, Hillary’s ratings have taken a nose-dive.
