For a few hours on the evening of the Fourth of July, Jason Rogers was in and out of American Legion Hall in Fairhope, grabbing beers out of the Yeti ice chest in the bed of his pickup truck – until he came out one last time to find the Yeti gone.

Furious, Jason fired back by making a video of himself, telling the story – "where the vets hang out, on Independence Day," he says, incredulous – and offering a reward: Anyone who finds the cooler would receive $500 cash and a brand-new Yeti.

Yetis are expensive, but they're worth every penny, Jason believes. He swears by Yeti coolers for hunting, fishing and more. They're tough – his has been "dropped out of the truck, fallen out of the boat," he said – and they do what they're supposed to do. "To me, it's the best cooler ever made."

He likes the ice chests so much that he owns another one that set him back a few hundred dollars. The one that was stolen was actually a promotional giveaway that cost him nothing. But that's not the point: Someone stole from him, and he's had enough of being stolen from.

So Jason didn't stop with the video. On July 5, he set up a Facebook group, Stolen from Me in Baldwin/Mobile County, which in less than two weeks has more than 8,300 members. He has two administrators, his high school friends Scott Godwin and William Irvine. Jason's video has been viewed more than 92,500 times in the group, and 180,000 times on his own Facebook page.

"It's insane, the love people have shown from that post," he said.

Yes, love. Because at the end of the video, his voice breaking a little, he talks about why a somewhat beaten-up ice chest means so much to him. It belonged to his son, who died four years ago.
