Via The Hill:
Republican nominee Donald Trump won over many skeptical delegates through his freewheeling commentary within a well-crafted acceptance speech.
It's the only way he knows how.
He broke all of the rules for polite talk and pleasantries delivered by typical politicians over the past year. He rewrote a playbook that has guided Washington for the past 20 years. He speaks directly to those Americans who feel neglected or on the fringe, those who can no longer buy into empty bromides.
Trump distinctly contrasts with political hacks who repeat the same verbiage in seemingly every federal election. They promise to simplify the tax code, reform immigration and defeat the sadistic jihadists whose sole mission is to destroy Western civilization and replace it with a caliphate governed by sharia law.
Voters become disillusioned and numb after time because they never follow through.
Americans know that abusive regulations and taxes suffocate opportunities and prosperity. A nation without regard for its laws will disintegrate. A borderless country is no country at all.
Trump — in his paradigm-shattering manner of speaking — signaled a change in that he will deliver on his promises and help to solve the problems that plague the country. The current leadership in Washington is simply incapable of doing so.
He will approach Washington with a fresh, business executive frame of reference in which all parties involved in a negotiation — such as one about trade — give and take until they reach the best possible outcome. He literally wrote the book on "The Art of the Deal."
He will support strong, loyal international alliances while demanding that they pay their fair share for the defense umbrella that America has provided since World War II.
He will demonstrate the leadership necessary to ensure the strength of the U.S. and assist allies to defeat common enemies, which would stand in direct contrast to the present state of affairs.
President Obama and Hillary Clinton undercut partners such as Hosni Mubarak in Egypt,
Moammar Gadhafi in Libya and Ali Abdullah Saleh in Yemen, while forging new alliances with the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda.
