Via Washington Examiner:

The Republican National Convention began Monday with presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump statistically tied with Hillary Clinton, according to the latest national survey by Morning Consult.

Clinton, who will campaign in Cincinnati on Monday, leads Trump 41 to 39 percent, putting her Republican opponent within the survey's 2 percent margin of error against her. Nearly 20 percent of U.S. voters remain undecided.

While the former secretary of state edges Trump among voters ages 18 to 29, the businessman carries a significant lead among independents — 38 percent to 27 percent. Trump continues to poll better than Clinton among white voters, but appears to have made little progress in improving his appeal among minorities.

Only 7 percent of African-American voters support the Republican presidential hopeful, while 24 percent of Hispanics plan to vote for him in November.
