It is important to note that there is a joint use agreement in place at Incirlik, that both the Turkish Air Force and the United States use it and have their areas. These are Turkish military being arrested. The coup plotters are thought to include a lot of Turkish Air Force members and the Erdogan government has claimed that at least one plane refueled there.
There are also tactical nuclear weapons under U.S. control at the base.
Troubling in all this is that Turkish Secretary of Labor has blamed the U.S. for the coup and Erdogan has demanded the extradition of Fethullah Gulen, an opposition leader living in exile in Pennsylvania, who he is blaming for the coup.
Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said that the U.S. facilities at Incirlik were operating on 'internal power sources' after Turks cut power to the base, ant that has not affected base operations. The base had been sealed and flight operations suspended.
The Obama regime last night claimed that the base was secure.
