President Obama’s chief spokesman on Wednesday joked about controversial comments made by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
“She didn’t earn the nickname the 'Notorious RBG' for nothing,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters when asked about her remarks on presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
But Earnest refused to say whether Ginsburg’s comments were appropriate in the eyes of the White House.
He pointed out that he also did not weigh in when then-Justice Antonin Scalia made controversial statements about black students during an open court session last December.“I declined to wade into that criticism," Earnest said. "And I think I’ll pursue a similar approach in this instance.”
