While the number of dead and wounded officers continued to climb early Friday morning, one Philadelphia-based black activist group posted a message on Facebook: “The revolution has begun.”
“Folks are gathering here at city hall in solidarity with what’s happening in Dallas demanding that when they shoot us we shoot back #BlackLiberation #BlackGunsMatter,” said the Facebook post from the Philly Coalition for REAL Justice.
The Facebook post referenced someone named Niecee Cornute, who allegedly was “snatched and detained in Dallas.” The Daily Beast reported that Cornute has ties to the African American Defense League, a group that has repeatedly called for the murder of white police officers and has been linked to Dallas shooter Micah Xavier Johnson. According to The Daily Beast, Cornute — who heads a group called the Black Women’s Defense League — was arrested by police in Dallas after the shootings began but was ultimately released.
