A Dallas man credits a DART officer with saving his life during Thursday night's fatal ambush on police in downtown Dallas.

Raphael Taylor said he was downtown when the shooting started, and that Dallas Area Rapid Transit police Officer Misty McBride was wounded while protecting him.

"The officer, the lady officer seen the gunfire, tried to run over and help us and ended up being shot," Taylor told KXAS-TV (NBC5).

McBride's father, Richard, told KTVT-TV (Channel 11) that his daughter crawled toward a car after being shot, and officers were able to take her to the hospital.
