Sources tell News 8 that Dallas Police Headquarters is under a lockdown Saturday afternoon due to a threat that is being 'taken seriously' by police.

The lockdown was put into place shortly after 4 p.m.

DPD SWAT was deployed to the headquarters after learning of a threat made by a group from Houston claiming to be armed, sources say.

Threat made involved attack on the HQs, involving snipers.

Reports of a masked man sighted near/at the HQs, possibly in the garage. Reporters pushed away from the garage.

 They have pushed media back to keep them safe.

There was a memorial there and hundreds of people had come out to hug and give support to the police. That appears to be okay at the moment. Police are asking that there not be live camera at this point, likely not to tip off whoever it is as to the movements of the police. The garage is not open to the general public.

The 'shots fired' was the SWAT team shooting a fence open to get in quickly, officers confirm they are searching for a suspicious person in the parking garage. The person was spotted, and ran when questioned.
