It appears it was dueling counter-protests between far left ‘anti-fa’ group and ‘traditionalist’ group.
If you see the red and black flag, red mean Communist, black means anarchist. In this video, you see them attacking the ‘traditionalists’ who they call Nazis. They call themselves ‘anti-fa'(anti-fascist), dressed in ‘black bloc’ attire with the flags and this is what they do, try and attack anyone they believe is ‘fascist’.

Looks like Nazis were attacked, anti-fa Communist folks crowing all over Twitter about attacking them.
At least one anti-fa appears to have been injured. Seeing reports of at least five people stabbed.
It should be no surprise that Occupiers were among the anti-fa. And this sign? They mean it literally.
Here’s where it started. Neo-nazis were on capital steps. Communists just started throwing stuff at them and attacking them, despite the police being in between them. Police had to get the neo-Nazis out for their own safety.
