A Florida animal rights group protested the black bear hunting season across Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Florida Voices for Animals held several Stop the Bear Hunt rallies in areas including Tampa, Sarasota and St. Petersburg to protest the black bear hunting season from October 24-30.
Per their website, FVA calls the hunt an “atrocity”, and aims to outlaw hunting due to the road collisions and habitat loss by human expansion that already affect the species. FVA also estimates several hundred cubs will die without their mothers if they are hunted.
