Does anyone really think gun control will stop Islamist terror attacks?
President Obama spoke Thursday after meeting with survivors and families of the victims in the Orlando shooting, saying that the city was “shaken by an evil, hateful act.”
Obama, speaking at a makeshift memorial at the Phillips Center with Vice President Joe Biden at his side, said that those who defend easy access to assault weapons should meet the families of the shooting victims.
“I truly hope that senators rise to the moment and do the right thing. We can stop some tragedies,” Obama said, according to a White House pool report. “We can save some lives. If we don’t act, we will keep seeing more massacres like this.”
Obama said the families of the victims “don’t care about politics.”
“Neither do I,” he said, according to the pool report. “This debate needs to change.”
