Albuquerque police are investigating reports of a possible active shooter and hostage situation at City Hall, which houses both city and county government officials.

Police have not said if anyone was injured. Officers have surrounded Civic Plaza and City Hall, and multiple undercover and SWAT team members were seen responding after 6 p.m.

“Information is limited at this time, but it is being reported there is a hostage situation,” Albuquerque police spokesman Mike Schroeder said. “Citizens are advised to avoid the area.”

Officers cleared out Civic Plaza. Albuquerque police Chief Gorden Eden is at the scene.
