SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — Seven people at the Sarasota Planned Parenthood were taken to a hospital and the facility was evacuated Monday morning after an unknown substance was reported inside the building.

911 dispatchers received a call about the unknown substance at about 1030 a.m. on Monday. Persons inside the building reported experiencing a shortness of breath.

A Sarasota County Fire Rescue spokesperson said that as of 10:45 a.m. seven patients were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for evaluation. 34 additional people that were in the building were moved to an air conditioned bus outside the facility. They are showing no symptoms.

A Planned Parenthood office in Sarasota, Florida was evacuated Monday morning after an “unknown substance” was found in the building, which police later determined was baby food.

Seven people were taken to the hospital for evaluation, one declined medical assistance, and 34 others who were in the building were evacuated, Sarasota police said in a statement shortly after 12 p.m. local time.

There is no criminal investigation underway and staffers are expected to re-enter the building later today.
