Charles Wade’s claim to fame prior to Ferguson was that he worked as a stylist for Solange Knowles, Beyonce’s sister. Because of Ferguson, he became known as an activist and got a write-up last year in The Root. Named as a ‘Top 100’ (along with fellow activists like DeRay McKesson and Johnetta Elzie), he was recognized for forming ‘Operation Help or Hush'(an organization asking for donations to help protesters) and for providing housing for protesters.
Since then, however, questions have been raised about where money donated to his organization has gone.
But Charles Wade himself has found even more trouble. In January, he was arrested in Miami and charged with grand theft.
On April 25, he really got himself in a fix. He was arrested and charged with human trafficking and several prostitution-related charges. The police report notes, that as part of the charges, he is accused of allegedly pimping out a 17 year old girl in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Wade has denied any guilt in the above arrests, issuing the following statement today, through a screen shot from his Twitter account.
He does not explain the part of the police report which notes clients allegedly called his phone and arranged with him for ‘dates’.
That ‘Top 100’ halo is looking a little askew on his head right now…
