Former Speaker of the House John Boehner called Sen. Ted Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh” during a Q&A session at Stanford University Wednesday.
Boehner was at an event hosted by Stanford in Government and the Stanford Speakers Bureau moderated by David M. Kennedy, faculty director and history professor emeritus. According to the Stanford Daily, Kennedy asked Boehner about what he thinks about Cruz.
“Boehner made a face, drawing laughter from the crowd,” the Stanford Daily reports.
“Lucifer in the flesh,” Boehner replied. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”
In August 2015, the former speaker of the House called Cruz a “jackass” at a private fundraiser.
In a March question-and-answer session in Boca Raton, Fla., Boehner referred to Cruz as “Lucifer.”
At the Wednesday event, he said that he and Trump were “texting buddies” who had played golf together for years. He also said that Gov. John Kasich “requires more effort on my behalf than all my other friends … but he’s still my friend, and I love him.”
