NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Sen. Ted Cruz’s night got even worse.

After getting swept in the five Northeast Republican primaries by Donald Trump, CBS News reports it is now mathematically impossible for the senator to clinch the nomination.

If there is a contested convention, Cruz would have to wait beyond the first ballot for any shot at the Republican nomination.
