Government officials in Greece believe that because of the recent terror attacks in Brussels, an official mosque needs to be built as soon as possible in Athens, or else the country will suffer a similar fate to Belgium from Islamic extremists.
“Every day that we do not have an official mosque and imam in Athens, we pay for in the increased risk of the radicalization of Muslims in the dark and unofficial places of worship,” an anonymous Greek official told local newspaper Kathimerini.
