A state trooper has reportedly been shot dead after a gunman opened fire at a Greyhound bus station in Richmond, Virginia.
Two state troopers were among six people shot shortly after 2.45pm, police sources told NBC 12.
Sources also told the news station that the suspect has been shot dead by police.

They also initially reported two troopers shot, and have adjusted that to just the one officer.

While some were not in uniform, the trooper shot was in uniform. Others appear to have been injured in ensuing gunfight.
Still no word on names of those involved or description of dead suspect.

Trooper Chad Dermyer has died at the hospital.

State troopers were conducting a training exercise at the Greyhound Bus Station. During the drill, someone pulled out a gun and shot the trooper in the chest. Other troopers returned fire, killing the suspect.
Officials later identified the trooper who was killed as Chad Dermyer. Prior to joining the State Police, Trooper Dermyer had been a US Marine. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
“I had my hand on the door handle when I heard two gunshots go off,” said a witness. “I didn’t think they were gunshots, but then there were like five, maybe ten more after that. And I could see the muzzle flash through the tinted door, so I ran out of there.”
The shooting victims were taken to Richmond’s VCU Medical Center.

An official source identified the shooter as 34-year-old James Brown III of Aurora, Illinois.
CBS 6 found a James Brown III., an African-American with a long criminal history in Aurora, whose date of birth matches up with the information from our source.
Brown is well known to police there.
They weren’t able to find a picture of this guy despite a violent criminal history as long as your arm. But we did, from an arrest seven years ago.
