An employee for a major airline raced away from a security checkpoint Friday night after she was selected for a random screening that revealed she was carrying nearly 70 pounds of cocaine, law enforcement officials said.
Los Angeles Airport police officers found the cocaine on Friday night, when they responded to a call of an unattended bag in a screening area, according to Marshall McClain, president of the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Assn.
When the employee was told she would be screened, she supposedly kicked off her heels and ran out of Terminal 4, according to McClain, who said the incident highlights the need for more intensive screening of airline and airport personnel at LAX.
