The leading contenders reportedly include Merrick Garland and Sri Srinivasan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia and Paul Watford of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.
More long-shot options include Jane Kelly of the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis and U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson of Washington, D.C.Garland, 63, is the oldest judge Obama is considering and boasts a 19-year judicial paper trail for critics’ analysis.
