Cleveland is advertising for thousands of sets of riot suits and batons ahead of the Republican National Convention later this year.

The Ohio city is stepping up its preparations for security during the July event, including spending some of its’ $50 million security budget on 2,000 sets of riot gear.

This comes just months after an investigation by the U.S. Justice Department found that the Cleveland Police Department systematically engages in excessive use of force against civilians.
