Here’s a link to live steam for the debate.

Should be interesting tonight with everyone jockeying for position in New Hampshire. The ones that haven’t factored too much, Bush, Christie and Kasich, have made real pushes in New Hampshire trying to make a dent there. So far, it appears the only one making any kind of headway is Kasich, who is still behind the top three in most polls.
—-
Closing Statements:
Kasich: I’ve done 100 town halls, I’ve had your hugs, seen your tears. I have a positive message about how we can lift everyone.
Christie: I’ve spent the last 13 years of my life serving the nation. I’m proud to be on stage with these men. I’ve spent 70 days with the people of NH. If you give me your vote on Tuesday I will just that.
Bush: I want to celebrate Reagan whose birthday is today. We need someone to take that positive message forward. I believe I have those skills.
Carson: Media has tried to ignore or bury me. I believe there is still a place for faith, integrity and common sense.
Rubio: My kids joined me this week on the campaign trail and it reminded me of what we are fighting for. [shows kids on the screen].
Cruz: I stood against the ethanol subsidy even though it was unpopular, even though media said that it would fail in Iowa. And we won in Iowa. If elected I will stand with the people against he Washington corruption of both parties.
Trump: That’s because you took Ben Carson’s votes [booed]. If I am elected we will win, win, win.

Q: Abortion
Rubio: Hillary, Dems are for partial birth abortion. They are the extremists not us.
Christie: I pulled funding for PP in NJ. But I am for abortion in case of rape and incest. It’s an act of self-defense. [against the child?]

Q: Hostages, should families be allowed to raise money for ransom.
Cruz: it’s a horrible situation for families, but there’s a reason it’s been a longstanding policy. If you look at what Obama has done, it puts a bounty on Americans traveling abroad. [misstates Bergdahl’s name as James Bergdahl]
T: you can’t negotiate with terrorists, otherwise you will have so many other James Foleys.

Q: veterans?
B: we need to give vets more choices, to be able to go to private provider. Career civil service reform.
K: bla bla bla

Q: Do you believe that women should be required to sign up for selective service?
B: [he didn’t understand what she was asking him] sure I do. they should have the right to participate in anything they are able to do.
[See he didn’t understand what ‘selective service meant, oh lord.]

Q; Zika virus, Christie you quarantined nurse.
Christie: yeah, I’d do it again.

Q: Why did you criticize Obama for visiting a mosque. But we face a very significant problem with radical Islamic terrorism. There is not widespread discriminations against Muslims in America, but there is discrimination against religious groups like Little Sisters of Poor.

Q: Race, cases of racism by police against minorities. On other side, there is a chill wind against police. How ouwld you bridge the divide?
T: police have done a great job, they can’t act because of this. People sue if excessive force. We don’t want police using excessive force.

Q: Hillary
Trump: Dems are protecting Hillary. But I will win. We cannot have another four years of essentially Obama [yup]
Rubio: high numbers in Iowa are showing that. Anyone who lies to families [that’s another canned bit, although quite true]
Carson: you have a deceitful person. Help was not on the way to our men in Benghazi. This is not who we are. I would make it a referendum on honesty and integrity.

Q: Drug addictions.
Cruz: My sister died of overdose, we have to secure borders to prevent it from coming it. We need the political will to do that.

Q: what would you say about people who think you might be a deal maker?
Trump: a good deal maker would never make it with Iran. You have to get people in but it’s got to be the deal you want.
Q: Is the problem there are too many deals or too few?
K: You have to have a leader that can rise up. WE’re americans before we are Republicans or Dems. You have to work with people. Obama thinks he can impose anything he wants. Party and ideology behind being Americans.

Cruz: so everything done with exec power can be done by exec power. That means his illegal exec amnesty goes away with strike of pen. Repeal Obamacare, flat tax to end IRS.

Q: enhanced interrogation techniques?
Cruz: under definition of torture waterboarding isn’t. I wouldn’t use it on a broad scale, but if needed to save Americans.
T: we have people chopping peoples heads off, I would bring it back and a hell of a lot worse.
B: wouldn’t bring back waterboarding. But Obama thinks killing people with drones is somehow better than waterboarding. [good point]

Rubio: ISIS is not just a jihadist group, it’s an apocalyptic group [that’s a good point]. Jordanian king has begged to target caravans but Obama wouldn’t let them. [generally good answer about Obama not bombing adequately]
Trump: Bomb and take the oil.
Carson: I want to say something about this because I’m not here just to add beauty to the stage. Next place they’re going to fully take over Libya so we need to be figuring how to stop that. [great point, Libya is the jumping off point to Europe, that’s their plan]

Cruz: military force should be last step. But if we do use overwhelming force, don’t be involved in nation building. The Obama ROE are tying the hands of our military.

Q: tax on millionaires?
B: we need more millionaires. [Bush has eaten his wheaties, and is finally showing up to a debate without being completely a wimp]

R: [he repeats for the 57th time that Obama knows what he is doing. He does, to do us in as a country, but get off the memorized point]

Christie: we have to take responsibility for records. Rubio doesn’t.

Q: Trump, jobs, how?
T: I would bring them back from china. We’re about to sign another one TPP [Obama signed that already this past week]

Q: Conservative?
T: big part of that is ‘conserve’.
R: Conservatism is about limited government. If it isn’t in the constitution it doesn’t belong in government. It’s about allowing everybody to rise without pulling others down.

Q: Trump. eminent domain?
T: Eminent domain is important for public roads, etc.
J: Trump tried to take the property of elderly woman.
T: You got to talk, quiet.
(booing Trump in audience)
T: Audience is all donors.
J: Keystone is a public use.
T: You wouldn’t have it without eminent domain.

Q: You said that the government is going to pay for healthcare. What do you mean?
T: we are going to get rid of Obamacare. We are going to have free enterprise, where people compete. There are people dying on the street and we will take care of them. [ hospitals can’t refuse patients for non payment]
Q: Cruz, how do you reassure people that it’s still in people’s interest to repeal Obamacare if some might not be insured?
Cruz: with socialized medicine you have rationed care, which harms people. We will repeal Obamacare, we will adopt commonsense reforms, that will allow people to purchase across state lines, to port insurance, and govenrnmet will not be in-between us and our docs.

K: the 11 million here shouldn’t get path to citizenship but should get legalization.
Cruz: Wall, triple the border patrol, increase the aircraft, put in place strong e-verify, biometric exit entry, to end over stays, cut off taxpayer funds for sanctuary cities.
Cruz: if someone is here illegally you have to enforce the law. Clinton deported 12 million.
Q: Rubio, gang of eight, created path of citizenship?
R: we can’t get that legislation passed [so why did you try to get it thru? This is nonsense, he’s just repeating what Cruz just said, and it doesn’t answer why he did what he did. That was the squishiest answer ever. ]
Christie: it’s abundantly clear that he’s not answering the question.

Q: NK is holding American college student, what would you do to get him back.
B: we saw the shameful treatment of our sailors, we have to back up our allies, and we can put crippling sanctions in place if they don’t reform their actions not just for student but if they don’t stop their actions.
C: You do not pay ransom to the criminals [Crispy’s strength is plain speaking] This president is for paying ransom to terrorists and when you do so you put even more in danger.

Q: Cruz, NK just launched a missile. How would you respond to this launch?
C: This is a direct result of the failure’s of the Clinton admin. The lead negotiator was Wendy Sherman, was recruited to bargain with Iran. We ought to put missile defenders in south Korea [good answer, demonstrates knowledge of situation]
Q: Would you have ordered it taken out on launch pad. You haven’t gotten intelligence briefings. {trying to bag him question]
C: I haven’t gotten the intel tonight on NK because I’m here.
R: It is the standard procedure to shoot down the missile in mid-flight if it puts anyone in danger
Q: Kasich how would you respond.
K: Townhalls was so much more positive than here.
T: Marco said Obama knows exactly what he is doing. I don’t think so, he’s incompetent. [I think Obama knows exactly what he is doing, trying to destroy the US]

Q: Christie, did Rubio answer your questions?
C: You haven’t been involved in a consequential accomplishments. You weren’t even present for Hezbollah sanctions act. You call that truancy. We have watched this happen for the last seven years. Do not make the same mistake again.
R: Chris Christie ran up debt. But let’s not continue with fiction that Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing.
C: That’s exactly what Washington does. The memorized 30 second phrase doesn’t happen in President.
R: Massive snowstorm hit your state. You didn’t even go back. Obama knows what he is doing.
C: there’s the same 25 minute memorization speech [Chrispy is ripping Rubio a new one]

Q: What are your accomplishments in Senate indicating you are ready, Rubio?
R: If it’s about whose around longest we should be for Joe Biden whose been around a thousand years. [he didn’t really list much there]

Q: Carson, What kind of action should Cruz take over the Iowa caucus actions about you suspending your campaign?
Carson: Who would quit after all the work, kids involved one who even died. Gives good example of Washington ethics, that’s not my ethics.
Q: Why didn’t you check with Carson about whether he was dropping.
Cruz: CNN reported that he was not going onto NH and SC and taking a break after Iowa. [that happened I saw it]
CNN didn’t correct story until 9:15.
Carson: there was a tweet after the first tweet saying that I was continuing.

Q: Why do you have temperament, Trump?
T: Think I have the best. I’ve had to work with everybody. I’m not one with a trigger, I said don’t go to Iraw. I’ll rebuild military and keep us safe.
C: Voters are looking to our clarity of vision and resolve. A commander who is unwilling to even acknowledge the enemy we face. I think everyone here has better temperament than Bernie, Hillary. Who has that on stage is up to voters to decide.
T: Ted didn’t answer your question, although I appreciate what he said. We’re going to win with Trump.

Economy, ISIS, homeland security and who has temperament to be CiC.

That was weird Trump and Carson not going out? did they not hear they were to go out? Apparently it was so loud they couldn’t hear?

Pre-debate:

John Kasich bragging today about his Democratic support. Gee, that will go over big in the primary. Kasich has put all his apples on New Hampshire, more so then anyone else, except perhaps Christie.

They did a straw poll among the students and of course, Rubio won, Trump came in fourth.

Cokie Roberts makes good point that Reagan went into New Hampshire debate 21 points behind, had a pivotal moment against George HW Bush, “I am paying for this microphone”, and ended up winning by 21 points and taking off to win the election.

‘Marco has momentum’. How does the guy who came in third have momentum?
