No doom and gloom stories about a government shutdown.

The House of Representatives will not be voting on any bills this week because of the massive snowstorm that hit the D.C. metro region this weekend.

In a memo from the House majority leader, members have been advised that due to the severity of the weather and the poor travel conditions, previously scheduled votes on Tuesday, Jan. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 27, have been postponed. The next votes are now scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1.

More than 10,000 flights along the East Coast have been cancelled due to this weekend’s winter storm, which has dumped around 2 feet of snow in and around Washington, D.C.

Also postponed is the consideration of two pieces of legislation: H.R. 3662, the “Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act” and the veto message on H.R. 3762, “Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Act,” a bill that would dismantle Obamacare and cut Planned Parenthood funding.[…]

No votes were scheduled for the end of the week as the Democrats have their annual retreat starting on Wednesday in Baltimore, Md.

As of press time, the Senate is still scheduled to conduct business starting Tuesday.
