Criminals in Lakeland have been put on notice.

A 24-year-old man is dead Friday after a “stand your ground” shooting in Lakeland, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
No other injuries were reported.
Investigators say 24-year-old Chevez Antwann Fiason broke into a home at 2235 Chestnut Hills Drive around 6:30 a.m. and shot at two people. Fiason was then shot and killed by the homeowner.
“Forcing your way into an occupied residence is a bold and foolish decision. If you are foolish enough to break into someone’s home, you can expect to be shot in Polk County,” said Sheriff Grady Judd.
Crime scene technicians spent the entire day in and out of the home.
