The decision they’re leaning towards is really weird.
Via USA Today:
The Supreme Court appeared interested Tuesday in finding a way for states and municipalities to take the number of voters into consideration when drawing some election districts, a switch that could help rural, Republican areas at the expense of urban districts that vote Democratic.
It seemed doubtful, however, that the court’s conservative majority would demand that maps be drawn to equalize the number of voters rather than overall population, which includes children, non-citizens and others.
Rather, several justices wondered if both measures could be used, at least in places where using only total population causes districts to have vastly different numbers of eligible voters.
