The man who jumped the fence at the White House on Thanksgiving left a suicide note that included a “Star Wars” reference with friends and told his mother she may not see him again.
Joseph Caputo, 22, was apprehended by Secret Service agents after running onto the North Lawn while President Obama and his family were celebrating the holiday. As a result, the White House was put into lockdown. Caputo was charged with unlawful entry.
Caputo had been staying with friends in Virginia and left them a note saying he wanted to die on Nov. 26, court documents show. Caputo also left an audio message for his mother and prepared a will.
“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around us who transform into the Force,” read his note, which includes a “Star Wars” reference.
The Connecticut resident, who appeared in court on Friday, will undergo a psychiatric exam.[…]
“Civil disobedience is not our problem,” Caputo quoted the late social activist Howard Zinn. “Our problem is that people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of leaders … and millions have been killed because of this obedience … Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves … (and) the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.”
He also shared a “We Are Change” photo about Syria which claimed that ISIS “is a joint creation of the CIA, MOSSAD and the UK as a weapon of FEAR to be used against the global public in order to forcibly gain public support through fearmongering for an invasion of Syria.”
