On Wednesday, LGBT activists called on the NFL to revoke Houston as the host city of the 2017 Super Bowl after a wide majority in the city elected to repeal the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance.

The national LGBT rights organization the Human Rights Campaign has requested an emergency meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell “to discuss the future of nondiscrimination protections in the city.”But according to Houston’s KPRC 2, the league isn’t making any plans to move the event out of the Bayou City.
The NFL released this official statement, per the media outlet:
This will not affect our plans for Super Bowl LI in 2017. We will work closely with the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee to make sure all fans feel welcomed at our events. Our policies emphasize tolerance and inclusiveness, and prohibit discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other improper standard.
