No, chanting and calling for police to be killed, as Black Lives Matter has done, multiple times, is what’s dangerous.

As of this writing, some people may tell you that 101 American police officers have been killed this year. That’s a lie.

While 101 officers are listed as having died in the line of duty so far, 23 died in car accidents, 16 had heart attacks, and five died of 9/11-related illnesses. In fact, 31 police officers have been shot and killed so far in 2015 and this year is currently on pace to be the second safest year in modern American history for police.

Tragically, the leading cause of death for American police officers is suicide with at least 125 suicides per year, but it doesn’t score political points to talk about the mental health crisis in our country.

Shaun King who has his own idea of ‘truth’ also dissembles throughout this article. Not only does he not mention the calls for the deaths of police, but he ignores there were actual shootings by BLM participants, including the deaths of the NYPD cops Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, by someone who was both a Islamist and BLM marcher. Further he leaves out cops who were not gunned down but were killed by other means, such as assaults.
