suicide bomber blew himself up at a Shi’te mosque in Najran in southern Saudi Arabia on Monday, killing at least one person and wounding several others, the Saudi interior ministry said.
The ministry’s first official word on the attack, carried by the official SPA news agency and Al Arabiya television, followed earlier media reports that three people had died in the blast.
The attack on the al-Mashhad mosque, attended by followers of the Ismaili Shi’te branch of Islam, occurred during evening prayers, an interior ministry spokesperson told Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya.
