A NYPD officer assigned to PSA 5 has been shot and seriously wounded Tuesday evening in east Harlem Manhattan, NYPD Sources Told JP.
The officer responded to a call for a man with a gun at 103 street and FDR Drive, when the officer approached the suspect the suspect started running, the Officer ran after him and by 111th street the suspect turned around and shot the police officer in his head.
The Officer was transferred in a NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) truck to Harlem hospital in serious condition.

An NYPD officer has died after he was shot in the head Tuesday night by a gunman in East Harlem, police sources said.
The officer took a bullet to the forehead as he and other officers chased the man, who was riding a bicycle, at E. 120 St. and FDR drive around 8:45 p.m., a high-ranking police source said.
Rescuers rushed the cop to Harlem Hospital, where he died.
According to a preliminary investigation, the chase began at E. 102 St. and FDR Drive, police sources said. Officers were on the scene in response to reports of a man with a gun in the area.
After the police officer was shot, cops found a man, believed to be involved in the shooting, suffering from a bullet wound at E. 125 St., the sources said. He was taken into custody.
At least one gun was recovered.
Authorities shut down the FDR Drive between E. 120 St. and E. 125 St. as they investigated.
Update:
There was a fight involving gunfire. The officers were called, suspects ran. In the course of fleeing, one suspect stole a bicycle on which to flee. He then shot at the officer who pursued him.
