The De Blasios have dumped portraits of George Washington and others from Gracie Mansion[NYC Mayor’s House] to add more diversity to the artwork hanging in his official residence, a report said.
A new installation will include pictures of famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass and former slave-turned-philanthropist Pierre Toussaint among artifacts that portray the history of the working class in the time of shipping magnate Archibald Gracie, according to NBC News.
A spokesperson for the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City disputed the part of the NBC report that said they were ditching George Washington to make room for Touissaint.
