Barack Obama

No surprise.

Via Washington Examiner:

The percentage of Democrats who are liberal has hit a 15-year high and they want their next presidential nominee to continue President Obama’s policies, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis.

A party of majority moderates just a year or two ago, the Democrats have surged liberal, echoing the right turn of the Republican Party, said the polling agency.

“The share of Democrats who describe their political views as liberal has increased over the past 15 years,” said Pew. “In surveys conducted this year, 41 percent of Democrats describe themselves as liberal, 35 percent say they are moderates and 21 percent say they’re conservative. In 2000, 43 percent were moderate, 27 percent liberal and 24 percent conservative,” Pew added.

“Sixty-one percent of possible Democratic primary voters said they would be more likely to vote for a presidential candidate who offers programs similar to the Obama administration,” said Pew, which added that they also want somebody who can work with Republicans.
