Never let a crisis go to waste.
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/21/15) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today announced the renewal of its “Share the Quran” campaign in response to Republican candidate Ben Carson’s false claim that Islam is “inconsistent” with the Constitution and his bigoted belief that a Muslim should not be elected president.
CAIR announced the educational campaign to give away free copies of the Quran, Islam’s released text, during a news conference this morning at its Capitol Hill headquarters. [NOTE: Those requesting a free Quran are asked to pay $9.95 for shipping and handling.]
“CAIR’s research shows a direct correlation between increasing knowledge of Islam and decreasing anti-Muslim prejudice,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.
Awad said CAIR is open to a meeting with Carson to dispel any misunderstandings he has about Islam and will send him a copy of the Quran so that he may educate himself about the faith.
