WASHINGTON — A new poll in battleground Iowa has Dr. Ben Carson tied with Donald Trump in Iowa — and a majority of voters backing one of three candidates who have never held public office before.

It’s the first time in a month that Trump hasn’t had the lead all to himself in one of four early-voting states.

Trump and Carson, a neurosurgeon who came to national prominence when he blasted President Obama at a televised prayer breakfast, each get 23 percent in the new Monmouth University Survey.

Carly Fiorina, a former Hewlett-Packard exec, comes in third, with 10 percent.

All three are outsiders who are able to appeal to an angry electorate that is lashing out at more conventional officeholders.
