Never chant the lyrics from a rap song.

A University of Central Florida fraternity has been suspended after a video surfaced of at least one member chanting the word “rape” and promoting sexual assault, according to university documents.

“In a video, there’s a brother yelling obscenities, like ‘Let’s rape some [expletives], rape some sluts’ and then yelling, ‘Rape’ over and over again,” according to an incident report filed with UCF’s Student Conduct Office.

The reported incident occurred June 9 in one of Sigma Nu’s off-campus apartments when some of the frat members returned home from a bar, according to the July 9 incident report.

There were four fraternity members present, the report said.

A woman, who is not a UCF student, returned with her boyfriend to the apartment after a date to the movies and filmed the scene, the report said. The woman then gave the videos to a UCF student, according to the report. That woman filed a complaint with UCF.

“She sent me the videos because she felt that they may be able to help me in an open police case …,” the woman said, according to the incident report.[…]

A panel hearing will be held Thursday for the fraternity, which is charged with sexual misconduct for condoning or encouraging acts of sexual misconduct, according to a UCF letter.

If the panel finds the students violated university policy, they could face a punishment that ranges from community service or writing a paper to being expelled. The students also have the right to appeal the university’s decision.
