At least 76 people were killed and 212 wounded in a bomb attack on Thursday at a market in Baghdad’s Sadr City district, police and medical sources said.
The bombing was one of the largest attacks on the capital since Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi took office a year ago.

A statement circulated online by ISIS supporters said the blast had targeted what it called a stronghold of the “charlatan army” and Shiite Muslim militias. The Sunni extremist group regularly sends bombers into the capital.“A refrigerator truck packed with explosives blew up inside Jamila market at around 6 a.m. (11 p.m. ET on Wednesday),” police officer Muhsin al-Saedi said. “Many people were killed and body parts were thrown on top of nearby buildings.”
A Reuters witness at the site saw fruit and vegetables mixed with blood and body remains littering the blast crater. The market, in a northeastern suburb, is one of the largest wholesale food markets in the capital.
But as Jammie Wearing Fools notes, Obama is focused on the important stuff:
US President Barack Obama hit the golf course on Wednesday for the third time since Friday with some star athletes who already made names for themselves in a different sports arena..
He was joined on Wednesday by NBA legends Ray Allen and Alonzo Mourning, as well as his usual opponent, Cyrus Walker, the cousin of White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, at Farm Neck Golf Club.
Obama and Allen were seen sharing laughs as they drove through the course on a golf cart, while the president was spotted having a chat with Walker on the putting green.
Walker and Mourning are frequent golf mates of Obama, and Allen played with the president last year, according to The Hill.
Rain may have kept Obama inside on Tuesday, but he has hit the courses several times since beginning his Martha’s Vineyard vacation, as he was spotted over the weekend and on Monday with several golf mates.
On Saturday, he was seen at Farm Neck Golf Club with Walker, Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David, and former UBS Investment Bank head Robert Wolf.
During his 18 holes with World Bank president Jim Yong Kim at Vineyard Golf Club on Monday, his hands were showing a bit of wear and tear from his weekend swing.
