The U.S. Attorney for South Carolina has confirmed a civil rights investigation has been launched into the homicide of Zachary Hammond.
The 19-year-old Seneca resident was killed by an officer in July. Click here to read more on the shooting.
“The FBI-Columbia Field Office, U.S. Attorney for South Carolina and the Civil Rights Division have opened a civil rights investigation into the shooting of Zachary Hammond. This investigation will run parallel to the state’s investigation. Because this is an ongoing matter, we are not able to comment further at this time,” said Dena W. Iverson with the U.S. Department of Justice.
