A US air strike in Afghanistan has reportedly killed a senior Al-Qaeda commander in charge of suicide bombing operations.

The Pentagon confirmed that Abu Khalil al-Sudani and two other militants died after a direct hit from a US air strike in Paktika province on 11 July.

In a statement, US Defence Secretary Ash Carter described al-Sudani as ‘high-ranking Al-Qaeda operational commander’.
